The Biomolecular Modeling School (Escuela de Modelado de Biomoléculas, EMB) is an intensive two-week theoretical and hands-on postgraduate school held at the School of Exact and Natural Sciences of the University of Buenos Aires. The 2027 in-person edition runs from 22 February to 5 March, organized by Darío Estrin, Luciana Capece, Mariano González Lebrero and Uriel Morzan (UBA), and Ari Zeida and Pablo D. Dans (UDELAR).
For this edition Pablo D. Dans, PI of DansLab, designed and built the school's new website — replacing the Google Sites pages of previous editions — and designed the official flyer.
What we did
- Designing and building the school website
- Program, modules and instructors kept in sync from a single schedule
- Pre-registration, fees and exemptions information
- The official 2027 flyer, whose artwork also animates the website background
The website
A static site built with Next.js, TypeScript and Tailwind CSS and deployed automatically to GitHub Pages from our group's repository. It gathers the program, modules and instructors — the instructor list is derived from the schedule, so the two never drift apart — together with the organizing committee, participating institutions and pre-registration.
Its animated background is built from the vector layers of the flyer — RNA sequences, a city grid, a lipid bilayer, a DNA helix and a protein — and respects reduced-motion settings.
The flyer
The poster brings together the topics of the school in a single image: a protein chain, a DNA double helix and a lipid membrane, in neon tones over a dark background. It lists the participating institutions from Argentina, Spain, Brazil, the United States and Uruguay, the organizers and the pre-registration link.
