M-ONT is a four-day international workshop on the chemistry, biology and clinical use of oligonucleotide and RNA therapeutics — antisense oligonucleotides, siRNAs, aptamers, splice-switching ASOs and emerging RNA therapies. It takes place in Montevideo, Uruguay, on 23–26 February 2027, and is aimed at graduate students, postdocs, clinicians and industry professionals.
Pablo D. Dans is part of the national organizing committee together with Victoria Calzada and Juan Pablo Tosar, working alongside an international committee formed by Isabel Aznarez, Alberto Kornblihtt, Adrián R. Krainer and Laura Sepp-Lorenzino. The workshop is supported by the Oligonucleotide Therapeutics Society, ICGEB, Universidad de la República and Institut Pasteur de Montevideo.
What our role involved
- Shaping the scientific program and the day-by-day schedule
- Selecting and inviting the speakers
- Designing and building the workshop website
- Keeping program, speakers and registration information up to date
Building the program
As co-organizers we took part in defining the scientific program: choosing the invited speakers — from academia and from companies developing approved oligonucleotide drugs — and organizing the content around four axes: chemistry (backbones, modifications, conjugates), biology (mechanisms, targets, delivery), the clinic (from bench to approved therapies) and bioinformatics (in silico prediction and design).
The schedule combines introductory lectures by the organizing committee, research talks by the invited speakers, poster sessions and case-study discussions on landmark approved therapies.
The website
DansLab designed, developed and maintains the workshop website, m-ont.org. It is a bilingual (English/Spanish) static site built with Next.js, TypeScript and Tailwind CSS, deployed automatically to GitHub Pages from our group's repository.
It brings together the day-by-day program, speaker profiles with their talks, registration, fees and fellowship information, venue and travel details, and sponsors.
